MYOLYN, a leading medical technology company specializing in functional electrical stimulation (FES) therapy, has announced a significant partnership with Shepherd Center, ranked by U.S. News as one of the top rehabilitation centers in the United States.
MYOLYN, known for its innovative, affordable, and easy-to-use MyoCycle FES cycling therapy system, will now collaborate with Shepherd Center, renowned for its expertise in providing world-class clinical care, research, and family support for people experiencing the most complex conditions, including spinal cord and brain injuries, multi-trauma, traumatic amputations, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and pain. This partnership aims to improve the lives of people living with paralysis by advancing rehabilitation technology, and it aligns perfectly with both organizations’ shared goals: helping people with disabilities improve mobility, rebuild their lives with hope and independence, and fully participate in their communities.
“FES interventions hold great promise for people with neurologic conditions,” said Deborah Backus, PT, Ph.D., FACRM, vice president of research and innovation at Shepherd Center. “We are excited to partner with MYOLYN to help advance the development of these technologies and rapidly introduce them into clinical care. Shepherd Center can best help its patients achieve their highest health, function, and wellness through partnership with outstanding and innovative technology developers like MYOLYN.”
As part of this partnership, MYOLYN will leverage Shepherd Center’s patient insights and clinical expertise to inform the research and development of its medical devices. Additionally, MYOLYN and Shepherd Center will jointly pursue funding for clinical investigations of the benefits of MYOLYN’s devices for Shepherd Center patients and personnel. This cooperative approach will ensure the creation of patient-centric solutions that cater to the specific needs of people living with paralysis.
