UCLA Performs Electrical Stimulation During Exo-Skeleton Assisted Walking

Alan Hamlet, PHD

July 12, 2024

Researchers at UCLA are experimenting with performing spinal cord stimulation on individuals with spinal cord injuries during exoskeleton assisted walking. This combines the assisted mobility provided by exoskeletons with the health and functional benefits of electrical stimulation.

This is a very interesting field of study, and was actually the Ph.D topic of MYOLYN’s CTO, Matthew Bellman, before he switched to FES-induced cycling.
